Event Description

GREEN SEEN Mail Art
The Wendell Free Library invites you to send a postcard size art work for our mail art exhibit, GREEN SEEN. Green – sustainability, conservation, freecycle, the color….. All techniques and media welcome. Participants’ mail art works will be displayed as soon as they are received at the library. Mail art will be documented at the library website and contributors will receive a printed documentation. Works will become part of a permanent art collection at the Wendell Free Library.
Deadline for receiving works is March 21, 2010.
Maximum postcard size, 5 ½ x 8 ½ in. / 13.97 x 21.59 cm.

I just found out that next month is Charlie's 20th anniversary as Wendell Postmaster. He has rceived the Benjamin Award, thrice, a highest award given to USA postmasters.

displaying a random selection of 50 pieces of GREEN SEEN Mail Art he received at the Wendell Post Office. This award winning postmaster handled 257 artists' works from 24 countries. Great job, Charlie!

Comment by Christine Tarantino on March 20, 2010 at 4:11pm: Library installation was taken down today after it was photographed for MIKIHIKO HORI who is preparing a report on the exhibition. The deadline for receiving works is tomorrow, 3/21, and a selected group of works will be framed and exhibited at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, Massachusetts. More information on exhibition dates will be forthcoming. The documentation will continue to be on-line:

Paper documentation will be prepared and sent to partcipants after the next show, probably late spring, early summer. 188 artists from 23 countries have participated, with more coming in over the next week or so. MANY THANKS for a successful mail art show! - Christine Tarantino
